🌸 Mother’s Day Memories 🌸 This beautiful photograph was taken in April 1942 on my Nanna and Grandad’s Wedding Day. Every time I look at it, I’m struck by how happy they look and by the strength, love and resilience of that generation. My wonderful Nanna worked well into her 80s and lived to the grand age of 92. She was an incredible lady who taught me so much about hard work, kindness and the importance of family. Today feels like the perfect moment to remember her and all the amazing mothers, grandmothers and carers who shape our lives and leave us with such precious memories. However you’re spending today, we hope it’s filled with love and special memories. Sometimes the best places are the ones right on your doorstep 🐑 This week I popped to deliver some flowers to a local lady who had helped us recently, and ended up discovering her most beautiful little flock of Dutch Spotted sheep just 10 minutes from home. Blue skies, fresh green grass, lovely lambs just four weeks old and the most stunning views across the countryside. I've lived here over 40 years and had never driven down that road before. It just proves you don’t have to travel far to find something special. She proudly showed me her lambs, her lambing sheds and how much love and care she puts into them alongside running her plumbing business. Hard work, passion and countryside life at its best. Moments like this are exactly why we love living here on the Welsh borders. Last Sunday we hosted a relaxed dinner here for neighbours. One of those evenings that reminds you why sharing good company and food matters 🍷✨ We started with canapés and Lanson champagne (a special treat!), followed by slow-cooked home-reared beef casserole with Yorkshire puddings, hasselback and mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese and seasonal vegetables… and then homemade apple & blackberry crumble, custard, and cheesecake with black cherries and cream. After dinner we moved into the lounge, lit the log burner, poured more wine, put music on and ended the night with a quiz that ran until 1am. From snow-covered mornings to late nights around the table, it was a privilege to see our farmhouse transformed into a working film set and to support such a dedicated, talented team.
